On a lark, Maria entered her picture of a young girl waiting for the Metro train to arrive in DC's first-ever State Fair's photo contest. And she is beyond gleeful to share with you all that it was named a semi-finalist in the contest! Although it's exciting enough to be one of twelve chosen entries, she is secretly hoping she gets to nab a blue ribbon-- because she's always wanted to win a blue ribbon at a state fair, really!

I really like that photo. I like the interplay of light and shadow as it highlights the patterns and textures around and above. It also has a futuristic feel to it that really appeals to me. Best of luck for the win, Maria!
