A Retrospective Of A Portion Of This Years Art

I have to do this sometimes. I get busy and forget what I have done during the year. Naturally, I assume it was *nothing*........then I start looking through images of items I have completed and posted at different times on the blog, and wonder why I can't remember past whatever the current project is in front of me. Maybe that's how it is supposed to be......to keep me pushing forward.
But I'm also posting this so later on in the year, when I can't get to the wet studio, I can reminisce about the lovely box canvas pieces that I made.
Follow along and just enjoy the images! No text about them......just some nice eye candy!

I am a mixed media/fiber artist living in the hinterlands of Northern Indiana. For years I worked in traditional art media, then switched to fiber as my main source of artistic expression. Somewhere along the line, bits and pieces of mixed media began popping up. I've become hooked on it and the possibilities the medium presents! I also do a lot of photography, for my own enjoyment, and my frantic, mad sock knitting experiments find a home here too..... 50 Years Ago...

 

.....here I was....in all my glory. Fat, happy, naked and wet.
Hmmmmmm.....most of that remains the same except I can no longer fit in the sink for a bath and I think the hair is a little different color-wise!
A half a century and the best I can produce in words are comments on a baby picture.... sigh

Fact: I was born in Vicenza Italy but this was taken at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky--our second station.
Fact: I was born with beautiful black hair that was curly and then something went awry. Waaaaaay wrong.
Fact: Dad thought mother's contractions were *a stomach ache from eating pork chops for dinner*......he didn't want to get up! LOL!! That was Dad!
Fact: I was born at some ungodly hour of the morning and that is perhaps why I have an aversion to early hours, even now.
Fact: 9 lb. 12 oz.  Told you I was fat!
Fact: 50 years later....it doesn't seem that all that time has flown by. Gone. Can't be recaptured.

Life is short, to be savored and used well. Don't put off things you can do and enjoy; make the most of it.
It's all Geritol and Depends from here!!!! (well actually, it was a similar version, vitamin fortified formula and diapers, when the photo was taken, come to think of it! LOL!)

Have a good one Kiddies! Hopefully I'll be back with something artsy tomorrow......but I couldn't resist this! ;-) Fifty only comes once and I just love to find some humor in my milestones!!!

Creative Tuesday

I'm Still Here...

Today is World AIDS Day, and I am still here. But many of my brothers and sisters are not. Am I thankful? Yes and No. Thankful that I am here another year, in relatively good health (still undetectable) and able to lead a somewhat productive life. But I am not thankful because there are so many others who are not afforded the same “comforts” I have: the monthly doctor visits, the blood work, the resources…and most important of all: the right to speak out freely without fear of being thrown out of my community.

The members of my congregation embrace me fully, and I am thankful for that….

But there is so much more work that needs to be done…and we need to start raising our voices as we did, when this virus was just coming out. There were protests all over the place, ALL the time. Now, I think because medications are enabling folks to live longer, and this disease is seen as one that can be managed, people are kinda complacent. And that is sad. Because it still is a killer. And contrary to belief, in spite of all the education that is out there, people are still being diagnosed!!!

I am hoping that you have gotten tested, that you are receiving treatment if needed….and that you practice safe sex…
