1st Anniversary 2008

ShewhocakeA It was about 11:30pm on May 23rd 2007.

Starting a  women's blogging group had been on my mind for quite a while.

"I'm doing it."

"What will I call it?"

The Go Daddy start a domain search box  was working overtime as I typed in different possible names.

Everything with her or women was taken, so she seemed the logical next choice.

She Who Blogs was available and mine as soon as the credit card payment was processed.

It was just after midnight May 24th 2007 when the group was created over at Yahoo with exactly one member - yours truly.

As of May 24th 2008 She Who Blogs is 72 members strong, and includes women from all over the United States, Canada, Europe & India.

She Who Blogs 1st Anniversary

She Who Blogs launched on May 24th, 2007. I actually joined a month later on June 24th. I'm not one of the most active members but I poke my head into the Yahoo Group once in a while and have made a few posts on the group blog.

In the time I've been a member my blog has grown from a fledgling book review blog to one that reviews a steady stream of advance reader copies which I review and giveaway. I'm currently averaging sweepstakes a week.

My readership has also grown, gaining 100 new loyal readers. From  questions my regulars have asked I've learned tons about the publishing industry and book cover design. In fact one of my most popular weekly topics is my themed book cover list that I do for Thursday Thirteen.

Frances asked me to include a photograph. Rather than include yet another one of my children, I thought I'd share a shot of my bovine neighbors up the street. Although I live in driving distance of the "Silicon Valley" I am also just on the edge of some beautiful rural lands.

I accidentally stumbled across Frances' blog right as she was deciding whether or not to create this group for female bloggers.  She had put up a post asking if anyone would be interested, and I jumped right on the chance to join in.  One year later I have made some wonderful bloggy friends and connections through this group, and have even had the chance, just recently to meet Frances herself.  This is a fantastic group of ladies, and I'm so happy to be a part of it.  Happy Anniversary ladies.
