five things week

Today is the last day of five things week over at my main blog - blogjem.

The link is in the side bar.

Having to come up with something every day was challenging.

Today there are two. One is five things I like about me. Since I'm always encouraging friends to think positively about themselves I figured why not me too?

The other is topics I would cover in a blogging seminar.
After I wrote it I came up with a half dozen more. I will save that for an eleven things week ;-)

Ciao for now.

Back to School Already?

Verizon Wireless is already running back to school specials.

The others are not far behind.

For me it means new notebooks to scribble in at bargain prices.

Happy Trails

surrounded by salesmen

In New York you'll still find door to door salesmen. Actually they go store to store, because it's hard to get folks to open up their homes to strangers.

The group near me on this train are typical of this new breed of NYC salesmen. They are in their early 20's, fresh faced and pulling luggage carts filled with BBQ sets, Forever Flashlights, Art Kits for Kids and other items which run from 5 to 20 bucks.

The ringleader of this group is sharing his vast experience with his troup of merry men. He is all of 23.

Today's big item is giant coloring and story books.

Let the buyer beware

still fighting the allergies

Amazingly enough even though I feel like twice warmed over leftovers I'm having an incredibly good hair day.

The constant humidity had me looking like Frizzy Lizzy lately, but today my greying locks are smooth.

LOL I'm half-dead, but I'm happy about my hair.

Erase the Frizzy & label me Dizzy.

Ciao for now.

Allergies grrrrrrrrr...

My allergies started up in the worst way last night.

A trip to the steam bath today helped a bit.

I was going to stay in this afternoon, but the weather is so nice today it would be a shame to miss it.

This 2 train is crawling downtown, but that's okay. Ten minutes either way is not going to make a difference.

There's a group of teen-age boys in front of me. The blonde skate board type. One of them is doing the saggy jeans thing. His psychedelic boxer shorts are on display to the world. It's hyserical - wish there was a way to sneak a picture. Too many witnesses ;-)

Hope you're all having a great Sunday wherever you are.

me time my time yahoo...

Going to stay up late bloghopping and tying up some loose ends online.

Tomorrow I will take to the streets of old New York camera in hand.

Back at ya soon.

Is everyone as fussy as I am about...

backgrounds on their phones and computers?

I decided to change my phone screen's background, and it took me a day and a half to achieve my version of perfection.

It's just a phone right?

Ohmigosh did I really write that?

Those who know me are well-aware of just how phone crazy I am.

It's not that I'm on the darn things talking so much, but I do text and MMS quite a bit.

Well heck that's what this blog is for - all the bits and pieces I see and think of while on public transportation or lurking on park benches or in coffeebars through New York.

Right now I'm on an express train that went local without warning.

I guess the MTA just knows I need the ladies loo asap.

I'll sign myself, Anxious

what a difference a font make...

My friend changed the font on my phone, so I'm not squinting like Miss Magoo when texting.

And yes of course I have glasses, and of course I am too lazy to put them on.

Ciao for now.

four people each in their own bubble

I'm on the uptown 1 train busily tapping on my little keyboard.

The young lady in front of me is listening to something on her Ipod that's taking her back to some special moment. She's smiling in a certain way and her shiny eyes are watching the memories play on her mind's screen.

The teen-ager all the way down the end of the car is playing some game on her Blackberry Pearl with such intensity I feel the fate of humanity is riding on the results.

The tall dark young man to my left looks a little worried.

A test he didn't study for? Job interview? Short on cash?

Dunno.

The teen-ager has stopped playiing her game, and is practicing her smile in the relections of the car's windows.

How easily their attention is diverted eh?

Ciao for now.

aaah! Sunday Sunday...

and I'm heading downtown.

There are two quite off Broadway plays I would like to see.

At least three intresting movies are out there too.

How does a girl decide which?

Well, definitely not on an empty stomach.

I'm on the 2 train right now, and I'm thinking of changing at 42nd Street. From there I could head towards the Lower Eastside or Chinatown. I could even get on a Q and go out to my beloved Coney.

You know what? I'm getting on the first subway that pulls in.

Ciao for now.
